The full form of TOEFL is the Test of English as a foreign language. As the name suggests this test is to measure the ability of individuals in the English language. There are other English exams as well but the applicant who takes the TOEFL test has an added advantage. The TOEFL test has to be taken by people who are non-native speakers of the English language who wish to enrol in foreign universities and global organizations. This test is useful in higher education, migration as well as work purpose
TOEFL is one of the two standardized tests of English language, the other being IELTS. Apart from TOEFL for study abroad, it can be TOEFL for permanent residency or immigration for the individuals who are desirous to go abroad. IT IS NOT USED FOR IMMIGRATION The TOEFL test is regulated and maintained by a US-based non-profit organization known as ETS (Educational Testing Service). The scores of this test are accepted by various international universities, including colleges, employers, professional institutions, immigration authorities or other government agencies or departments over 140 countries comprising over 9000 organizations. TOEFL exam is a test of four hours which includes four sections – Reading, Listening, Speaking and writing each using one of the English language skills. These are necessary skills in order to converse as English serves as a primary medium of communication worldwide. TOEFL test scores are marked on a scale of 1 to 120 points. The TOEFL scores valid for 2 years from the test day. The test can be taken any number of times. The results can be viewed within 2 weeks of the test date.
TOEFL IBT test (Internet Based Test) is an online test for students who need to apply abroad. The TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) has progressively replaced the Paper Based Test (PBT) and Computer Based Test (CBT).

PDT is a test conducted on places where there is internet unavailability due to internet or computer issues. Internet access is totally prohibited in this type of type. Paper Based Test was available in limited areas till 2017, when it was replaced by Paper Delivered Test. However, TOEFL IBT test is more WORD MISSING worldwide.
